News from the Den- September 26

The Terry Fox Assembly wowed us all!

This week was a week full of learning and reflection, as it was Truth and Reconciliation Week. Classes had the opportunity to use Talking/Sharing Circles, add ideas to the kindness chain and to curl up and read a book. This will continue into next week as we recognize Orange Shirt Day on Monday.

We also focused on Terry Fox this week by sharing some of Terry's quotes in the announcements. Grade 3 student leaders ended our day today with an amazing Terry Fox Assembly and our Terry Fox Run. A huge thank you to Mme Proulx and Ms. Davis for organizing such a meaningful event. Also thank you to Dr. Boyer for teaching the whole school O Canada in English, French and Cree and putting together a performance for the Terry Fox song.

Today we watched our students shine in the assembly and the run. From those speaking or performing, to all the students who helped their younger buddies during the run, we really noticed the incredible leaders we have at HHE. We couldn't help but to be proud of our amazing pack of coyotes!

Enjoy your weekend!

Read In Week
We’re excited to let you know that Read In Week is coming up from October 6 to 10! This special week is all about celebrating our love of reading and the joy that stories bring to our school community. The theme this year is “Books to Bytes”, which highlights and celebrates all forms of reading - from traditional books to digital texts and everything in between.

If you have a passion for reading and would like to read a story, perhaps your favourite children’s book, to your child’s class, please contact their teacher directly. Let’s come together to make Read In Week 2025 a meaningful celebration of imagination, connection, and the many ways we enjoy reading.

FAHHE Survey
On behalf of the School Council and FAHHE (Fundraising Association for Heritage Hills Elementary), we would like to gather your feedback.

We heard a lot of great ideas from the parents who attended our first meeting last week, as well as those who have reached out to us directly over the last year. With that information, we have designed this survey to hear from as many parents as possible. We want to hear from you, to ensure our fundraising plan is exactly what we all hope for.

Please complete this quick (anonymous) survey and let us know your thoughts. We look forward to making 2025/2026 an amazing year for all our children and families.

FAHHE 100% Fundraiser
Fundraising is important for schools to assist in acquiring a few extras outside of the annual budget. FAHHE is offering a "100% Fundraiser" in lieu of traditional fundraisers for those who do not have the time or energy to volunteer. This is one of the ways families can contribute and support our School Wish List. This year we are focusing on the Teachers' Discretionary Fund (decorations, supplies, treats etc. for classrooms), supplies for School Lunch Clubs (sewing, games, Lego, etc.) and replacement balls for Recess bins. More information about School Council and FAHHE events and fundraisers can be found on our website.

Thank you!
